We have been breeding and showing Angora goats for 15 years and alpacas ( since 2004 ). We have a stud of 15-20 Angora does, breeding stud animals which we show at local and national agricultural shows. The goats are shorn twice per year in February and August. Standard quality fleeces are sold through the Australian Mohair Marketing Organisation with finer and longer fleeces sold to local spinners and craft workers. Surplus breeding stock are available each year along with castrated males for pets or meat.

AlpacasSince starting with 3 alpacas in 2004, the numbers have built up through breeding; they give birth each year after an 11½ months pregnancy and are shorn once per year in the spring. Castrated males make excellent guards for sheep, goats or poultry keeping foxes at bay and make good pets. The alpaca fibre from the first two years shearing is excellent quality for spinners and weavers.
We now have mohair and alpaca products available as well as fleece. Visitors are welcome by appointment. Group visits and talks by arrangement. For more information please contact: Reg and Gill Scott, The Oaks, NSW 2570 Phone: (02) 4657 2293 E-mail: gillreg@bigpond.com |
